Experimenting with paintings in space, off the walls, hanging from the ceiling, moving by air, wind, I began creating kite paintings inspired by the aerial paintings of Tal Streeter and Jackie Matisse, and the Japanese koi kites I fondly remember during my childhood years on Okinawa, tethered to bamboo poles by each home flying with the breeze each spring on boys day (now children’s day). I created goddess kites to celebrate women everyday and cylindrical kites that spun in the air.
